Awards, Rewards and Recognition We are committed to recognizing outstanding work, as well as outstanding practitioners in our field, and do so in several ways. -Lamplighter Awards—Created to recognize excellent and exceptional healthcare communications, the Lamplighter Awards are presented each year in a wide variety of categories, including publications, public relations, advertising and more. Entries are judged by communications professionals from outside the region to ensure impartiality. -Evans Houghton Memorial Award—Established in 1974 to honor Evans Houghton, the late founder and longtime director-at-large of NESHCo, the award recognizes exemplary performance and significant contributions to the field of healthcare communications. Presented at the Board of Directors’ discretion at the Annual FallInstitute, it is NESHCo’s most prestigious honor.

The purpose of the New England Society for Healthcare Communications (NESHCo) shall be to promote cooperative action among practitioners of health care communications in New England. Towards the achievement of this purpose, the Society commits itself to serving the broadening interests, responsibilities and professional development of such individuals. It will promote excellence in advocacy for and standards of the profession through relevant educational programs and services. It will provide for the exchange of ideas and information of value to members and the organizations they serve.
