Evans Houghton Award
“Above and beyond.”
“A leader by example.”
These are among the attributes of the 33 health care marketing and communications leaders (your peers!) who have been honored with the New England Society for Healthcare Communications’ highest honor — the prestigious Evans Houghton Award — which will be awarded at the 2017 Spring Conference in Falmouth, Ma.
Created in 1975, the Evans Houghton Award was established by the Society’s Board of Directors to honor the memory of Evans F. Houghton, one of the Society’s Founders and a long-time director. Following his untimely death in 1974, NESHCo established this memorial award.
What the Evans Houghton Award is …
The Evans Houghton Award is meant to honor the recipient for exemplary performance in, and significant contributions to, the field of health care marketing, communications and public relations. It is meant to reward true “above and beyond” contributions to our field.
What the Evans Houghton Award is NOT …
The Award is not meant to be reserved for those who have served NESHCo as either a board or committee member. It is truly is meant to honor those who have distinguished themselves through selfless actions and have been an inspiration, mentor or role model to others. It is an opportunity to honor those in our profession whose actions, teaching and commitment, often times unknowingly, have had profound and lasting effects on those around them.
Created in 1975, the Evans F. Houghton Award was established by NESHCo’s board of directors to honor the memory of Evans F. Houghton, one of the Society’s founders and a long-time director. The Evans F. Houghton Award recognizes exemplary performance in, and significant contributions to, healthcare public relations. While NESHCo acknowledges the many healthcare professionals who skillfully perform their duties every day, the Evans F. Houghton award is designed to reward those contributions that rise ‘above and beyond’ the norm.
